47-year-old Vu Tien Giang

Vu Tien Giang, 47, lives in a rental area in Binh Thanh District, HCM City.

After knowing that a resident in his rental area had tested positive for Covid-19, Giang immediately went to an acquaintance's house in Vung Tau City at 2 am on August 22. He tried to avoid the checkpoints but still hung a bag with two loaves of bread on his motorbike so that he could say that he was going to buy food when being asked.

At 11 am on the same day, the management board of the residential cluster in Vung Tau noticed the appearance of Giang and ordered him to fill in the medical declaration forms and home-isolate.

On August 23, Giang developed a fever. His quick test result came back positive. He was tested again after he was brought to a quarantine centre. The result was also positive. On August 28, his acquaintance, Chu Nguyen Thuong, was also tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the police in Vung Tau City, social distancing rules are being implemented in the city during this time. The case is under investigation.
