Vietnam and Italy have co-operated in the repatriation of their citizens amid the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.
On Friday, the Vietnamese authorities, the Italian Embassy in Vietnam and Italy’s ENI Company organised a special Vietnam Airlines flight to transport a number of Italian citizens who had been stranded in Vietnam because of Covid-19 to return home.
The flight also carried medical masks as a gift from Vietnam.
After landing in Italy, Vietnam Airlines also brought Vietnamese students and citizens living in Italy’s regions severely affected by the virus back home on its return flight which landed in the central city of Da Nang this morning.
All passengers were provided with medical check-ups and were then moved concentrated quarantine areas for Covid-19 prevention.
Vietnam has confirmed no new Covid-19 cases over the past two days. Among the total of 268 patients, 198 have been discharged from hospital after full recovery. The most critical cases have seen improvement.
