Authorities of the central province of Quang Nam have proposed to use helicopters to provide relief goods for thousands of households isolated due to floods.

Thousands of households in Quang Nam Province have been isolated due to floods and landslides.
The proposal signed by the provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Tri Thanh has been sent to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Ministry of Defence and some other agencies for consideration.
According to the document, around 3,000 households in the mountainous communes of Phuoc Loc and Phuoc Thanh in Phuoc Son District have been isolated since October 28, causing them the serious shortage of necessities, particularly food.
The two communes have been hard hit by landslides and floods following Storm Molave. Many houses have been buried, while lots of public works have been severely ruined.

Local authorities have instructed to gain access to the areas to provide supplies, but their efforts are facing many challenges because of damaged roads.
Thanh noted that it would take time to repair the roads, especially in the on-going unfavourable weather.
The province expect that the government and the Ministry of Defence to agree to the proposal.
