HCM City will re-establish street crime teams from now to the year-end and the model will be piloted in some districts first.
According to the municipal Police Department, the department has finished the plan for the team’s establishment. The teams will include the best policemen and dedicated amateurs.

In September, the city's police will hold training courses.
The teams will be firstly piloted in District 7 and the districts of Nha Be and Binh Chanh and then will be considered for expansion across the city.
Earlier in March 1978, HCM City set up a street crime team named SBC which was very helpful to deal with the city's crimes at that time.
In 1995, SBC was dissolved when the city's crime rate much improved.
HCM City Party Chief Dinh La Thang recently admitted that the city continues to face rampant crime, including against foreign tourists. There are over 2,500 pawnshops in the southern metropolis, with many alleged to have facilitated criminal activity.
