According to current regulations, only people who have got at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are allowed to come to supermarkets.
BigC To Hien Thanh Supermarket in District 10 was very quiet on the first day reopening on October 1.
Tran Thị Thuy Linh said that she needed to show a paper showing she had got Covid-19 vaccine, make health declarations and take temperatures before entering the supermarket.
Vinmart+ Ho Ba Kien also received just a few customers on October 1.
According to a shop assistant, they were only allowed to receive five customers at a time and all customers must have vaccine certificates.
Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews on October 1, vice director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Nguyen Phuong said that they were still waiting for detailed instructions from the city people's committee to issue green cards for people to be admitted to public places including shopping centres.
Earlier, people in HCM City bought things online or through local authorities during the social distancing period which lasted over four months.
