Fireworks displays will be held for 15 minutes from 9 pm on April 30

According to the municipal Transport Department, some streets in the city centre including Nguyen Hue, Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Khanh Hoi Bridge, and Thu Thiem 2 Bridge will close to traffic from 6.30pm-9.30pm on April 30.

Two major high-altitude fireworks displays would be held for 15 minutes from 9 pm on April 30 at the entrance to Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City and Dam Sen Park in District 11, according to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports.

A number of cultural activities will also take place, including music performances and a series of celebrations held to mark the 132nd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

Last year, the city had to cancel fireworks shows and other events due to a virulent Covid-19 outbreak. There were no fireworks shows for the 2021 and 2022 Lunar New Years.

The Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays this year will last four days as the dates coincide with the weekend.
