
The only fall was seen in transportation category.
This month, eight goods categories saw CPI rises, with the highest increase, at 3.74%, in the education category due to raised school fees at secondary and high schools. The food category rose by 0.27% over the previous month because of the coming new lunar year while the category of housing, power, water, fuel and construction material climbed by 0.08% month on month.
Meanwhile, the only fall was seen in the transportation category with a 2.1% decrease due to petroleum prices being lowered twice in the month.The prices of gold and the US dollar, which were not calculated in the CPI, increased in January by 0.26% and 0.13% respectively month on month.
The office also said that this month’s industrial production index fell by 3.1% month on month but rose by 15% year on year.
The total volume of sold goods and services’ turnover increased by 4.7% month on month and rose by 10.4% over the same period last year.
The capital’s export value fell by 3.5% month on month and by 0.9% year on year while the import value decreased by 6% over December 2015 and increased by 11.6% compared to the same period last year.
