A private company in Hanoi has just announced a Tet bonus of VND74.5 million (USD3,547), making it the highest payer in bonuses among local companies to date.
The information was announced by the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs. It, however did not release the company’s name.
Nguyen The Hung, the department deputy director, said that many companies in the city had not yet announced their Tet bonuses, but to date this is just the highest.
Based on existing reports from companies in Hanoi, this year’s Tet bonus will drop by around 10% against previous years.
For joint stock companies with the state-owned capital, the bonuses average VND570,000 (USD27.1) at New Year. The level for Lunar New Year is VND3.14 million (USD149.5), but with a high of VND34.2 million and a low of just VND200,000 (USD9.52), down 7.69% compared to last year.
The private sector offers average Lunar New Year bonuses of VND3.74 million (USD177.6), down 8.2% compared to last year, but the highest bonus will reach a huge VND74.5 million, while the lowest bonus will be a paltry VND300,000 (USD14.2). The sector’s average bonus for the New Year is VND510,000.
The foreign-invested sector’s average bonus for the Lunar New Year is VND3.7 million, down 12% against last year, while the highest payment will reach VND66.7 million (USD3,200), with a miserable VND200,000 at the bottom of the bonus pay-scale.
According to the Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, wholly state-owned limited company average salaries in 2012 reached VND4.13 million per person per month, up 3.7% compared to 2011. The figure for the private sector stood VND4.09 million, down 11.9% on-year; meanwhile, average salaries in the foreign-invested sector stood at VND4.17 million, up 3.37%.
Deputy Director of the HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority Nguyen Tan Dinh said that, around 160 out of a total of about 1,000 enterprises under the authority had reported bonus plans for Tet 2013.
The highest and lowest Tet bonuses in domestic firms would reach VND400 million (USD19,175) and VND2.1 million, respectively.
