The hailstorm occurred around 4 pm on Sunday in Trung Khanh and Hoa An districts and Cao Bang City in Cao Bang Province and lasted for some 10 minutes. Hailstones measured around 1.5-2.5 cm.

In Bac Kan, hail affected Ngan Son District on the same day.
Meanwhile, heavy rains happened in Dong Van District in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang early Sunday morning. During the rain, a house in Sung Trai collapsed, killing a five-year-old girl and injuring her mother.

Twenty-seven other houses in Dong Van have also been damaged by the rain, resulting in total losses of VND1.3 billion (USD51,181).
According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the northern region will continue facing hot weather today, April 22, with temperatures of 35-37 degrees centigrade. Rain with strong winds would occur in the region by late afternoon.
