France to export 3,000 tonnes of potatoes to Vietnam early next year
He said that France has submitted dossiers, certificates of quality and safety for its potatoes to Vietnamese authorities and was waiting for the Vietnamese approval.
Vietnamese delegations have been also invited to visit France to inspect the potato production process. Currently, the process of testing French potato products is in the final stages.
According to the Agricultural Counselor, next week, France is expected to receive the licence for potato exports to Vietnam. If the exports are carried out as scheduled, France will be the first European potato exporter to Vietnam.
Export of France’s agricultural products to Vietnam was estimated at EUR200 million last year. France’s annual export growth to Vietnam in the 2015-2017 period has reached 25% with milk products and fruits being major products.
France has resumed apple export to Vietnam after the ban since 2012 was removed. The country has also planned to export more other kinds of fruits such as pears and grapes to Vietnam.
