Today, August 29, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, budget airlines Jetstar Pacific and Vasco have cancelled and changed the schedules of 17 flights to Vinh, Dong Hoi and Phu Bai airports in the central region.
Among those, Vietnam Airlines cancelled flights VN1374, VN1375, VN1378, VN1379 and VN1549 on the Hanoi/HCM City-Hue route. Four other flights on Hanoi/HCM City-Vinh flew earlier than scheduled. Two more flights on the HCM City-Hue route will run on Friday to serve affected passengers.
Jetstar Pacific cancelled two flights on HCM City-Dong Hoi route and two others on the HCM City-Vinh route on Thursday.
Vasco will cancel two Hanoi-Dong Hoi and two Hanoi-Vinh flights on Friday.
The affected passengers will be assisted.
The airlines will continue updating weather information for their flights.
Many localities have prepared for Storm Podul.
Boats will be banned from going to sea in Thanh Hoa Province while 26,000 people Nghe An are ready to be evacuated as Storm Podul is forecast to hit the central region.
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung ordered disaster prevention and search and rescue committees to closely monitor the situation since Podul is a huge storm that will occur during the national holiday.
In Quang Nam Province, boats are banned on Cua Dai-Cu Lao Cham route. All tourists have been taken out of Cu Lao Cham Island.
