The boat team, which was led by senior lieutenant colonels Ly Ngoc Binh and Thai Minh Dung, left Tien Sa Port at 5pm yesterday and is expected to arrive at the meeting point by 5pm today to receive the nine fishermen who were previously detained by China.
According to Colonel Nguyen Quang Trung, police boat 6006 was stored with enough warm clothes, food and medicine for the fishermen to use. A team of doctors and nurses also followed to take care of their health.
The time when the fishermen arrive land cannot be confirmed now due to the varying weather at sea.
As reported previously, the nine fishermen were captured with their boat on September 11 and then released unconditionally by Chinese authorities on October 11. On the way home, the boat broke down and was dragged back by a patrolling boat from China to the Hoang Sa (Paracels) archipelago from October 14 until now as diplomatic negotiations and weather issues were addressed.
