A Filipino crew member has been treated after suffering from acute appendicitis on a vessel off the southern central city of Nha Trang.

A Filipino crew member has been treated after suffering from acute appendicitis on a vessel off the southern central city of Nha Trang.

At around 4 pm on Monday, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre received the call for help from the Panama-flagged ship named Mayasan which was transporting oil from UAE to Japan.

The crew members has been taken Khanh Hoa General Hospital for the treatment


When the ship was around 180 nautical miles from the Southeast of Nha Trang, the Filipino crew member on the ship faced a serious bellyache, but without fever and breathing difficulty.

The 24-year-old man was diagnosed with acute appendicitis so he needed to receive urgent treatment.

Right after being informed, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Co-ordination Centre sent a rescue ship for the support.

The crew member has been brought to Khanh Hoa General Hospital. He is now in stable health.
