Three members of a family were found dead after their car sunk in the Hoai River in the central coastal city of Hoi An.

According to local authorities in Cam Nam Ward, the bodies of Chu Tung Giang, his wife Dao Thi Thu Hien, both 42, and their six-year-old son was recovered at 9.40 am on January 25.
The couple's bodies were found near the car which sunk five metres under the water while the son's body still stuck inside.

Reports from local police said that the accident happened at around 1 am when a family of four who came from Hanoi were driving to a restaurant by the Hoai River.
"After seeing the restaurant closed, they left but their car slid into the river. The 14-year-old daughter managed to get out and was rescued by a local man while the parents and the son sunk inside their car into the riverbed,' reports said.
According to local people, the family had been staying at a homestay facility in Hoi An for several days and regularly dined at the same restaurant before the accident occurred.
