The RENEW/NPA Project announced on June 22 that they had detected a cluster of explosives including bombs and mines under a road in Thai Lai Village, Vinh Thai Commune in Vinh Linh District.
"The explosives lie in a tunnel which was built under a busy road in the area," RENEW/NPA said.
The team has safely dismantled 19 bombs and shells.
Project RENEW was founded in August 2001 by the government of Quang Tri Province and international NGOs as an effort to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by cluster bombs and other munitions remaining in the province, since the war ended in 1975.
RENEW/NPA has started searching for explosives in Vinh Linh District since mid-June this year and had found and safely dismantled 23 bombs and 33 other explosive items in just a few days.
