The decision was announced by Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Pham Thien Nghia at a meeting on Covid-19 prevention and control on Monday.
The province imposed social distancing regulations of Directive 16 from July 11 to the districts of Lap Vo, Lai Vung and Chau Thanh and Sa Dec City.
However, the province’s pandemic has continued worsening in the province. So the province decided to apply social distancing regulations of Directive 16 for the remaining localities of Tam Nong, Thanh Binh, Hong Ngu, Tan Hong and Thap Muoi districts from July 14.
Under Nghia’s request, local firms which fail to meet requirements of ensuring accommodation and food for their staff at their facilities need to be suspended.
Local state agencies have been asked to tightly manage their staff in terms of Covid-19 prevention measures.
Dong Thap is struggling to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak at Sa Dec General Hospital and another at a company in Cao Lanh City.
Between June 24 and July 12, Dong Thap recorded 620 new Covid-19 local infections.
