The accident happened on a section of National Highway 1A running through Tan Duc Commune when the 16-seated coach hit the truck in the opposite direction.

Initially, six people died on the spot, while nine others were injured. However, two among the injured died on the way to hospital, raising the total fatalities to eight, including the coach driver.
The accident led to traffic congestion for dozens of kilometres on National Highway 1A.
Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, asked Binh Thuan authorities to provide the best treatment conditions for injured people.
Provincial police have been required for the investigation into the causes of the accident, including blood tests for alcohol and drugs for the two drivers.
The government and the Ministry of Transport have sent their condolences to the victims’ family.
