"Jiang entered Vietnam on October 10 through Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City," the report said. "He then visited Phu Quy Island, where he was staying at the Chill Chill Hotel, located about a kilometre from where his body was found. Jiang had planned to stay there until early December.

A hotel staff member said that Jiang often went swimming and fishing alone. On November 9, he left the hotel at around 1 pm, bringing a fishing spear. They were informed of the accident late that day.

In late October, a male Vietnamese tourist also went missing and was later found dead after paddle boarding off Phu Quy Island.
