
Chinese employees return to work in HCM City
In January and February, 406 workers from South Korea, 144 from China and 275 from Japan came to HCM City. It is estimated that firms in HCM City were expecting 1,500 employees from South Korea and Japan to work over March, April and May.
Some 40,496 people from HCM City work in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea and the city authorities have implemented many measures and support policies.
Over 4,815 foreign employees in the city are from virus outbreak areas. Out of them, 2,466 are Chinese employees and 1,116 of them returned to Vietnam to work after the lunar new year holiday and were quarantined. After 14 days, all of them were cleared to return to work.
The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs suggested that HCM City authorities should temporarily stop issuing work permits for foreign employees from outbreak areas. Returning employees will be checked and monitored.
