The HCM City People's Court three-storey building suddenly tilted on December 20, scaring employees and causing a traffic jam.
The incident happened at around 3pm on Le Thanh Ton Street. The locals said they saw unusual signs and tried to shout out warnings to the people inside. However, due to the thick glass, they had to throw stones and bricks to break the windows.
When the incident occurred, dozens of people were working inside the building and some people had to be rescued by firefighters.
The initial conclusion showed that was caused by the nearby construction on the Saigon Plaza, where workers are digging to build the basement. A 3-metre deep and 5-metres wide hole is now in front of the building.
The police had to block routes for investigation. However, because Le Thanh Ton is one of the main roads leading to the city centre, the blockade has caused serious congestion on several roads such as Nguyen Huu Canh and Thai Van Lung.
The traffic only returned to normal by 9pm.
