Bkav plans to manufacture ventilators to help save lives

CEO Nguyen Tu Quang said Bkav established a team for this project following the news that two Vietnamese in Japan want to transfer the ventilator production technology to Vietnam.

However, after the US medical equipment maker Medtronic open-sourced the design of its PB 560 ventilator for other manufacturers in the world, Bkav decided to work on this model.

Ventilators are essential devices in saving the lives of critically ill Covid-19 patients and there is a serious shortage of this equipment all over the world.

Quang said that Bkav will complete the manufacturing of its first ventilator in mid-May and will ask for the Ministry of Health’s permission for mass production.

He added that Vietnam will not have to worry about the lack of ventilators if the epidemic worsens but he personally believes that Covid-19 will be contained in Vietnam within the next several weeks.

Earlier, on April 3, the conglomerate Vingroup also announced that it is planning to produce ventilators, respirators and body temperature meters to supply the Vietnamese market.
