On main roads around the headquarters of the provincial people’s committee where the protests against the special economic zone (SEZ) draft law were held, were normal.
Binh Thuan peaceful again after protests
Shops, restaurants and other services have opened again; meanwhile, hundreds of visitors have come to Doi Duong Beach.
Some agencies which were damaged by protesters have been repaired.
Dao Ngoc Nghia, deputy director of the Binh Thuan Department of Police, said that the police have detained more than 80 people for disturbing public order.
The gate of the provincial People's Committee has been repaired
On June 10 and 11, protesters rushed into a fire and police station in Phan Ri Town, damaging and setting fire to vehicles. They also gathered at the head office of the committee and threw bricks and stones at the police, injuring eight policemen.

Associate. Prof. Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh from Academy of Finance said that demonstrations are normal in many foreign countries, however, they must be lawful. He, however, said that violent protests in Binh Thuan over recent days had damaged public assets and injured police, which is illegal.
He added that he believed the action would affect foreign investor confidence in Vietnam. They would feel unsafe to pour money into the country.
According to Thinh, following the public concerns, the government and National Assembly Standing Committee agreed to ask the legislature to delay the vote on the law and further research its applicability; so, the public should await more detail.
