Binh Dinh plans to evacuate thousands of people due to Storm Goni

Authorities of the southern central province of Binh Dinh have planned to evacuate up to 1,073 households with 4,288 people to avoid Storm Goni.

Authorities of the southern central province of Binh Dinh have planned to evacuate up to 1,073 households with 4,288 people to avoid Storm Goni.

The households are located in coastal areas and those facing the risk of landslides.

Many houses in Binh Dinh Province were damaged by Storm Molave.


The provincial authorities have also informed ships and fishing boats to find shelters to ensure safety.

At present, no fishing boats from Binh Dinh are operating in areas which would be affected by the storm.

On Wednesday, Party Secretary and Chairman of Binh Dinh Province People’s Committee held an online meeting in response to Storm Goni. According to Dung, Binh Dinh has faced great losses due to Storm Molave. Particularly, 23 fishermen of two local fishing boats have remained missing.

The province has banned local fishing boats’ operation since 5 pm on Wednesday until Storm Goni ends.

Meanwhile, the central province of Quang Nam has decided to suspend the search for the missing at landslides in Nam Tra My and Phuoc Son districts to focus on responding to Storm Goni.
