Another storm is brewing as deaths reach 18 in south-central Vietnam

More deaths have been attributed to flooding in south-central Vietnam while warnings of more severe weather were issued.

More deaths have been attributed to flooding in south-central Vietnam, claiming 18 lives, 6 injuries and 6 who remain missing while warnings of more severe weather were issued.

Weather movements expected to bring heavy rains to central provinces from Thua Thien Hue to Phu Yen

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that a low-pressure area movement is approaching central coastal provinces. Its movement is forecast to bring heavy rains to central provinces including Thua Thien Hue, Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen, said the center.

Nearly 20,000 houses were flooded or damaged and about 700 others collapsed or completely swept away. Meanwhile, road transportation in some affected areas remains disrupted due to flooding, landslides and damage.

Of the total deaths reported, seven are from Khanh Hoa, five Phu Yen, three Binh Dinh and three others are from Ninh Thuan.

To deal with the situation, the High Command of the Border Guard said it has been coordinating with local authorities to inform more than 44,000 ships and boats currently at sea with over 226,000 crew, of the severe weather developments.
