Additional 175,480 Covid-19 infections announced on Tuesday

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported an additional 175,480 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's patient tally to over 6.55 million.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (26,708), Nghe An (10,752), Phu Tho (9,062), Hai Duong (5,464), and Bac Ninh (5,007).

As of Tuesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 6,552,918. The country now stands 20th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (864,925), HCM City (573,177), Binh Duong (344,034), Bac Ninh (236,620), and Nghe An (237,313).

On March 15, an additional 111,164 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 3,383,142.

On Tuesday evening, a further 68 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 41,545. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Hanoi (10), Quang Ninh (8 ), Binh Dinh (6), Bac Giang (4), Bac Lieu (4), HCM City (3), Ben Tre (3), and Binh Duong (3).

Vietnam on March 14 administered 147,309 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 200.51 million.
