Many activities were held in localities across the country to celebrate the 56th anniversary of Vietnam Physicians Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2011).
Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education, Dinh The Huynh, visited the Ministry of Health on February 25 to congratulate its leaders and medical staff on Physicians Day.
Poliburo member Huynh affirmed that Vietnamese physicians have continually improved their professional knowledge and devoted themselves to caring for and protecting the people\'s health which has contributed positively to national construction and development.
He stressed that the Party\'s Resolutions always pay great attention to the people\'s healthcare, and the Health Ministry should continue carrying out the Party Resolution effectively in order to provide better healthcare services to the population.
On the same day, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan visited doctors and medical staff at Da Nang C Hospital and Da Nang Hospital in Da Nang city. The Vice President praised their achievements in the past, emphasising that central Vietnam is often hit hard by natural disasters so medical staff working there should try their best to serve local people who have been victims of such events.
The National Odonto-maxillo-facial Hospital celebrated Physicians Day on February 25 and held a ceremony to receive the Prime Minister\'s Certificate of Merit. On the occasion, Associate Professor Doctor Trinh Dinh Hai, who is also the Director of the Hospital, was presented with the Labour Order, third class for his significant contributions to the healthcare sector.
Other provinces throughout the country including Nam Dinh, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Binh, Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan also organised ceremonies to celebrate the occasion.
