Nearly 4,000 Vietnamese labourers are on the way back to Vietnam from Libya. It is expected that as many as 7,484 will be out of Libya by March 2.

Vietnam’s related ministries, departments and agencies are trying to help the remaining labourers leave Tripoli capital and Benghazi wharf as soon as possible.

More than 900 Vietnamese workers already landed in Vietnam safely on February 27 and many other will fly home via Thailand the next day, said an official of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Vietnamese embassy in Egypt was informed that on the evening of February 27, hundreds of Vietnamese labourers were waiting at the Salloum border gate to go by bus to Cairo International Airport. They said they were assisted by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has asked for the Government’s permission to allocate VND3 billion for urgent evacuation of Vietnamese labourers from Libya.
