The Vietnamese Ministry of Health has just announced the 46th Covid-19-related death in the country.
According to the ministry's report, the 81-year-old man who comes from the northern province of Bac Ninh, had slight fever and cough on May 5. He was admitted to a local hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia. He stayed four days at the hospital and tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 before returning home.
On May 11, the man suddenly had high fever and severe coughs. He had breathing difficulties on May 14 and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 at a local healthcare centre. He was sent to the Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital and his condition quickly worsened. He showed low blood pressure and went into respiratory failure.
On May 15, the patient was moved to the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and was diagnosed with septic shock and pneumonia due to Covid-19.
He was given intensive care and treatment but his condition kept worsening. He died on the evening of May 26.
