The fishermen from the QNa 90859 TS arrived in Nui Thanh Commune at around 9 pm on September 3, where they were welcomed by local authorities and their families.
Danang Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung attended the reception and spoke with the rescued fishermen.
Nui Thanh Chairman Hoang Chau Son thanked Naval Region 4 Command, the Vietnam Coast Guard and fishing vessels from Gia Lai Province for their role in the rescue.
According to Son, contact with the QNa 90859 TS was lost on August 25 while it was operating in offshore waters. The vessel, carrying 51 crew members, was later confirmed to have sunk.
Thirty-two fishermen were found and given medical care, food and accommodation before being brought home. Local authorities and fishing communities have called for continued efforts to locate the remaining 19 crew members.
Earlier on September 3, Naval Region 4 medical personnel examined the 32 fishermen after they arrived at Cam Ranh International Port. All were reported to be in stable condition.
Local authorities have also called on organisations and unions to provide support to the boat owner and rescued fishermen to help them recover and resume their livelihoods.
