The project will cost VND 7.09 trillion, including about VND 4.13 trillion (USD 157 million) in loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with the remainder funded by the province.
The planned road will start at Road 871B in Gia Thuan Commune and end at a planned bridge across the Tien River at the Cua Dai channel in Tan Phu Dong Commune.
It will pass through Gia Thuan, Tan Dong, Tan Dien, Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong communes and require about 88 hectares of land.
According to the feasibility study, the road is intended to connect Dong Thap's coastal transport corridor with other coastal provinces in the Mekong Delta and HCM City.
The project is also expected to open up new areas for development and support industrial investment, urban development, tourism and aquaculture in the eastern part of the province.
The road could also be integrated with the Go Cong sea dyke to support the relocation of coastal communities and reduce risks from natural disasters, climate change and rising sea levels.
Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The investor is accelerating tender procedures and completing project documents, with land handover targeted for the end of 2026
