The Quang Tri Border Guard said on October 2 that it had coordinated with relevant agencies to expel and return nine Lao nationals who illegally entered Vietnam.

The authorities also imposed administrative fines on the nine for crossing the national border without completing the required immigration procedures.
Earlier, authorities in A Bung Village, La Lay Commune, discovered Ho Van Ngheo, 39, a local resident, riding a motorbike carrying two Lao nationals who had no identity documents and had illegally entered Vietnam.
Further investigation led authorities to discover seven other Lao nationals without identity or immigration documents at Ngheo's home.
Border guards also identified two other people allegedly involved in organising and facilitating the illegal entry: Ho Thi Khanh, 30, from A Luoi 5 Commune in Hue City, and Ho Thi A Ut, 37, from A Bung Village, La Lay Commune.
The individuals said they had helped the Lao nationals enter Vietnam illegally so they could seek employment in Ho Chi Minh City.
The La Lay International Border Gate Border Guard Station handed Khanh, Ngheo and Ut over to the Quang Tri Provincial Police's Security Investigation Agency for further investigation and legal action.
