According to the People's Committee of Tan An Ward, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms hit several roads in Buon Ma Thuot and Tan An wards at around 5 pm.
The victim, a resident of Gia Lai Province, was riding a motorbike through the area when the large tree suddenly toppled onto him. He suffered severe injuries and was rendered unconscious at the scene.
Local residents quickly helped take him to hospital for emergency treatment. However, he died at around noon on August 21 because of the severity of his injuries.

The storm also caused trees in several areas to lose branches or be uprooted, with fallen trunks blocking roads and disrupting travel. Several signs were blown away and stalls and display cabinets belonging to local businesses were damaged.
After the weather improved, residents and authorities worked to clear fallen trees and reopen roads to ensure traffic could resume.
Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the storm.
