Football fans celebrate Vietnam's ASEAN Cup win in HCM City on the evening of January 5.
Vietnam won 3-2 over Thailand in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Championship finals at Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand on January 5. With a 5-3 aggregate victory in the final game, Vietnam lifted the ASEAN Cup trophy.
After the match ended, the streets to Hanoi's centre were crowded with people cheering and waving the flags.
At 23 pm, Cua Nam Street was covered with red flags.
The same scene was seen in HCM City and many other cities and provinces nation-wide. These photos show people celebrating the victory on some streets in HCM City.
Many people in HCM City started celebrating and flocking out to some other streets in the city centre such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Le Duan right after the match.
Foreign tourists also join the celebrations.
In Thu Duc City
Fans in many localities nation-wide including Thanh Hoa, Haiphong, and Can Tho also took the streets to celebrate the victory of the Vietnam team.
