The plane crashed in a mountainous area of ​​Binh Hoa commune, Tay Son district in the south central province of Binh Dinh.

A provincial leader said authorities are coordinating to determine the location of the plane crash and search for the whereabouts of the two pilots.

Air Force Regiment 940 of the Air Force Officer School is currently stationed in Phu Cat district. Phu Cat is a dual-use airport serving civil flights and is the training ground and base of Regiment 940 and Regiment 925 of Air Force Division 372.

Yak-130 is a new generation training aircraft manufactured by Russia. The aircraft is equipped with two 2,500 horsepower engines, maximum takeoff weight of 10,290 kg; 9 pylons for 3,000 kg of weapons; maximum flight speed of 1,060 km/h; and maximum flight altitude of 12,500 m.

The aircraft can also operate in combat with medium-range reconnaissance and attack capabilities.
