Hanoi traffic police have fined a man for transporting six children in the open bed of a pickup truck travelling along Thang Long Boulevard.

Under Decree 168/2024, the driver faces a fine ranging from VND 4 million to VND 6 million (approximately USD 157 to USD 236) and a deduction of six points from his driving licence.

At around 5 pm on June 29, Hanoi's traffic police division received a report accompanied by video footage from a resident, showing a pickup truck carrying several young children in its cargo bed, raising serious road safety concerns.

Following an investigation, officers identified the 31-year-old driver, a resident of Hoai Duc District on the outskirts of Hanoi.

At the police station, the man admitted that at approximately 4.45pm that day, he had driven the pickup truck from the Military History Museum with several children, relatives of his, seated in the open cargo area.

Police said the driver acknowledged his violation after officers explained the safety risks and relevant legal regulations.
