Quang Ninh installs emergency lifebuoys to prevent drownings

Quang Ninh City has installed lifesaving stations in 54 localities to prevent drownings and improve emergency response along rivers, bridges and coastal areas.

The installations were carried out by the Civil Defence Command in coordination with local military, police and authorities, providing emergency rescue equipment at locations considered vulnerable to drowning incidents.

Quang Ninh has extensive coastal areas, a network of rivers and streams, and popular tourist destinations along Halong Bay, making rapid emergency response particularly important.

Authorities surveyed high-risk locations to identify suitable sites where rescue equipment could be accessed quickly during emergencies.

Emergency lifesaving stations allow residents to respond quickly to drowning incidents, helping reduce the risk of fatalities.

In Mao Khe Ward, the local Military Command installed lifesaving stations at three major bridges Hoang Thach, Da Vach and Cam.

Lifebuoys were placed in visible, accessible locations to enable residents and emergency personnel to respond immediately if someone falls into the water.

Local military authorities are also coordinating regular inspections and maintenance to keep the equipment ready for use, while encouraging residents to protect the facilities and report emergencies promptly.

In coastal and tourist areas around Halong Bay, including Hong Gai and Bai Chay wards, authorities have installed hundreds of outdoor rescue cabinets containing life jackets and lifebuoys.

The cabinets are positioned along Tran Quoc Nghien coastal road, public beaches, near Bai Chay Bridge and at tourist boat terminals.

Lifesaving stations across Quang Ninh strengthen local emergency response and help prevent drowning incidents.

Transparent cabinets protect the equipment from harsh coastal weather and display reminders against moving or misusing rescue gear except in emergencies.

Authorities have also tightened inspections of safety equipment aboard boats carrying tourists around Halong Bay.

The network is intended to strengthen immediate rescue capabilities under the "four on-the-spot" approach, which emphasises local command, personnel, equipment and logistics in emergencies.

Officials said the initiative would help protect residents and visitors while improving local preparedness for natural disasters and search-and-rescue operations.

Quang Ninh has installed lifesaving stations across 54 communes, wards and special administrative zones to improve emergency response.

Local civil defence and military forces plan to continue equipment inspections, patrol dangerous deep-water areas and raise public awareness of drowning prevention.
