On October 30, the provincial Department of Construction announced traffic restrictions on the highway in Phuc Tho Lam Ha and Ta Dung Communes because of the risk of further ground movement.

Prolonged heavy rain from early September to late October, amid increasingly complex weather conditions, has caused ground subsidence and raised concerns that the road could crack or become impassable.
The road surface has sunk in several places, with one section dropping by around 30 centimetres. A subsidence hole has also appeared on the roadside, measuring approximately 40 centimetres wide and 50 centimetres deep.
To ensure safety, the department said all vehicles would be prohibited from travelling through the affected section from 6 pm on October 30.
National Highway 28 is a key route linking Gia Nghia and Dalat, covering a distance of approximately 160 kilometres.
