The HCM City Department of Transport is seeking the Ministry of Transport’s approval for using four-wheel electric buses to serve the recently-launched river bus service.

The HCM City Department of Transport is seeking the Ministry of Transport’s approval for using four-wheel electric buses to serve the recently-launched river bus service.

The buses, which will serve tourists who use the river bus service, will contribute to reduce pollution and traffic jams, the department said.

The city plans to operate 10 electric buses of 8-14 seats from 5 am to 10 pm.

HCM City has piloted three electric bus routes in the city centre area and District 7 since the beginning of the year.

According to the municipal Department of Transport, these routes transport from 800 to 1,000 passengers per day.

Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Tourism has also just launched a new bilingual magazine in Vietnamese and English for tourists.

The city welcomed five million international tourists in the first 10 months of this year.
