The extension of HCM City's Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line to the neighbouring province of Dong Nai has been estimated to cost around VND30 trillion (USD1.18 billion).

On Monday, the Dong Nai People's Committee met with concerned agencies and consulting units to review the plan for extending the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line by approximately 21 kilometres to connect with Trang Bom District in Dong Nai.

According to a proposal by Southern Transport Design Consultancy Joint Stock Company (TEDI South), the extension will feature 13 stations and a depot, running from Suoi Tien Station on the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line to Ho Nai 3 Commune in Trang Bom District.

TEDI South suggested that the section going through Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai will be underground.

The investment for the project will be sourced from the state budget and ODA.

At the meeting, Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai People's Committee, directed the Department of Construction to propose a task force to facilitate the project's implementation. The task force will recommend unique mechanisms to secure government support for its swift, cost-effective, and efficient execution.
