A performance/lecture/mango party by Afshan D’souza-Lodhi. Afshan, in the role of a matchmaking auntie blessed with mango magic, perceives the fruit as an initiation for storytelling and a way to explore tensions between: the “exotic” fruit and Western dining etiquette, sellers and buyers in the capitalist market. More than just a socio-cultural symbol, the mango, with its aroma and juiciness, invites us to touch, smell, and taste; the mango, with its tender flesh, invites us to physically engage in love, separation, and healing.
