The Hanoi Autumn Festival has kicked off in Bà Kiệu Temple Garden in centre of the capital city.

The four-day event themed "Hanoi Autumn - Historic Autumn" which started on Friday, is part of the celebration for the 70th anniversary of the city’s Liberation Day (October 10).

Director of the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) Nguyễn Ánh Dương said: "It is set to promote Hanoi’s image, culture, and tourism to domestic and international friends, and raise public awareness of culture preservation, contributing to sustainable local socio-economic development."

“With the experiences at the 2nd Hanoi Autumn Festival 2024, visitors will have impressions of Hanoi as an attractive, safe, and friendly tourist destination,” he added.

Notably, 12 cities and provinces, 17 districts of the capital and a number of travel firms and lodging facilities in Hanoi have registered to showcase their products and services during the festival.

The festival features famtrips to some tourist destinations in the city, art programme themed "Dream Paradise 5 - Hanoi Autumn in You" and a seminar about Hanoi tourism at the UNESCO-recognised Thăng Long Imperial Citadel.

Hanoi also organises an event to show the creative skills of artisans and skilled workers of typical Hanoi craft village, aiming to honouring the values ​​and traditional and sophisticated handicraft products.

Some craft villages participating in the event includes Thiết Úng Wooden Fine Arts village, Bát Tràng Pottery village, Hạ Thái Lacquer village, Vạn Phúc silk village, Ngũ Xã bronze casting village.

At the opening ceremony, organisations, units and businesses donated more than VNĐ120 million (US$4900) to support people affected by the Yagi typhoon and floods in the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City.

The first edition in 2023 attracted about 80,000 visitors. The festival was honoured to receive the 16th Bùi Xuân Phái - For the Love of Hanoi Awards for the category Actions For the Love of Hanoi.
