Foreign trade value falls by 11 percent on-year in first nine months

FDI firms continued to report the highest import-export values during the period, at USD 341.65 billion (down 11.90 percent on-year), while domestic firms reported revenues of USD154.65 billion (down 9.60 on-year).

Regarding export revenues, HCM City still led the country with USD 31.10 billion, followed by Bac Ninh Province with USD 28.66 billion, Binh Duong with USD 22.51 billion, Thai Nguyen with USD20.17 billion, and Haiphong with USD 18.10 billion.

In terms of imports, HCM City also topped the country with USD40.71 billion, followed by Hanoi with USD 26.96 billion; Bac Ninh with USD 24.11 billion, Binh Duong with USD16.05 billion, and Haiphong with USD 15.89 billion.

Fruit and vegetable exports hit a new record with USD 4.20 billion in revenues during the first nine months, surging nearly 72 percent on-year and breaking the record of USD3.81 billion in 2018, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association estimated nine-month imports at about USD1.46 billion, a fall of 0.1 percent.
