Vieng Market is held once a year in Nam Dinh's Vu Ban District on the eighth day of the first lunar month, which this year is Wednesday, February 5.

However, traders started setting up stalls and displaying goods on Tuesday afternoon, attracting many early visitors.

The stalls sold various products, primarily agricultural tools and equipment, handicraft products, bonsai trees, and fresh beef.

It is believed that visitors will get lucky if they buy something at Vieng Market.

Many visitors arrived early to wait for midnight when Princess Lieu Hanh's heavenly spirit would descend to the area and hear their prayers.

On the afternoon of February 4, the roads leading to Vieng Market became heavily congested, and police arrived to relieve the traffic jams.

Hoang Van Manh, a visitor from the neighbouring province of Ha Nam, said he came to Vieng Market every year and enjoyed the atmosphere.
"It's a bit crowded, but I like this atmosphere," he said. "This is a special market where there are usually no bargains. All the traders and buyers want to do their jobs quickly, hoping things will be easy for them in this lunar year."
