The monkey weighs around 10 kilogrammes
Local residents found the 10-kilogramme rhesus monkey in a field in Thach Trung Ward and promptly handed it over to the forest protection force.
The authorities have since teamed up with Vu Quang National Park to care for the monkey before returning it to the wild. It was given health check-up and is in a stable health condition.
The rhesus monkey is classified under Group IIB on the rare, precious, and endangered forest species list.
