The move comes after a 36-year-old male tourist from Ho Chi Minh City died on July 8 when his paraglider malfunctioned and crashed near the base of a mountain close to the coast at Son Tra Peninsula. The pilot flying with him sustained injuries.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and launch an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of Danang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, confirmed that the company involved, Tropical Forest, had arranged for the victim’s body to be transported back to Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Thao, the non-motorised paragliding service has been offered to thousands of tourists at Son Tra for years, and this is the first fatal accident recorded.
