According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of July 9 to July 10, the northern mountainous and midland areas are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some regions experiencing very heavy rainfall ranging from 30 to 70 mm, and locally over 150 mm.
The meteorological agency has warned of a high risk of intense downpours exceeding 100 mm within three hours, potentially causing localised flooding.
Torrential rain is forecast to spread across the entire northern region from the evening of July 10 and is expected to continue until July 12.
The downpour may bring extreme weather, such as lightning, strong gusts, and whirlwinds, with risks of urban flooding, flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.
Thunderstorms are expected to persist in the northern mountainous region from July 13, but with less intensity, mainly concentrated in the late afternoon and overnight, according to the meteorological agency.
Additionally, the low-pressure trough is predicted to bring rain to areas from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh from the night of July 10 through July 12.
