Nguyen Thi Mui found a paper bag at around 9.30 am on September 8 containing a box with 15 gold rings, two necklaces, a bracelet and a pendant.
She immediately took the jewellery to Hiep Binh Ward police and asked officers to help find its owner.

Police identified the owner as Tran Thi Thuy Van, 34, a local resident who said she had accidentally thrown the jewellery away while cleaning her home.
Van collected all the jewellery from the police station later that day and thanked Mui and local officers for helping recover it.

Hiep Binh Ward police praised Mui for her honesty. Together with local representatives and Van, they later visited her and presented her with VND 10 million and 10 kg of rice.
Police said Mui faced financial difficulties but had chosen to return the valuables, describing her actions as an example of honesty and kindness in the community.
