Five-day holiday for Reunification Day, May Day

The coming Reunification Day and May Day holiday will last five days from April 30 (Wednesday) until May 4 (Sunday).

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has announced that public servants will work on Saturday (April 26) to observe the consecutive five-day Reunification Day and Labour Day holidays this year.

The ministry said the five-day holiday would boost spending and travel activities and not change the number of working days.

Firms and organisations that do not have fixed days off at weekends can arrange their schedule so that workers will have a similar period for their holiday.

Before this five-day holiday, Vietnamese workers will also have another day off for the Hung Kings' Temple Festival on the 10th day of lunar March, which falls on Monday, April 7.

According to the Labour Code, employees who work on these holidays are entitled to at least 300 percent of their daily wage plus their salary on the day.
