Stray dogs chasing and biting people has been a common issue on Con Dao. Last year, the area reported around 100 dog bite incidents, with victims requiring rabies vaccinations. In response, local authorities conducted a survey and reviewed the total dog population to have more effective management.
Around 887 QR codes have been provided to households with dogs in the district. Each QR code tag includes detailed information like the pet owner's name, address, and the pet's rabies vaccination status.
From November 10, the district’s stray dog management team will conduct inspections to detect violations. Dogs without QR code tags will be caught.
Owners of dogs with QR code tags that violate regulations in public places will be fined. In the event of a second violation, the dog will not be returned, and stricter fines will be applied.
Con Dao has pioneered in Ba Ria-Vung Tau in managing dogs by QR codes, which is considered a necessary solution for a tourism hub.
According to the Con Dao Department of Economics, people must keep their dogs within their property. When there are no gates or fences, dogs must be leashed and managed 24/7. When taking dogs for walks in public areas, owners are required to use a leash and muzzle to ensure safety and maintain environmental hygiene.
