HCM City helicopter tours could resume

The HCM City Department of Tourism has recommended reopening helicopter tours, which offer panoramic views of the city, following a temporary suspension.

The HCM City Department of Tourism has proposed key initiatives through 2025, including reviving and upgrading helicopter tours as a signature tourism product.

The HCMC Department of Tourism regards this as a unique, signature product that was successfully piloted and well received by both tourists and travel businesses.

According to the department, tours were successfully piloted and garnered strong interest and praise from both tourists and travel companies.

To resume the service, the municipal tourism department suggested introducing incentive policies and simplifying administrative procedures to facilitate investment. It also requires close coordination among relevant agencies to support helicopter tour operations.

In April 2022, the HCM City Department of Tourism, in partnership with Military Hospital 175, Southern Helicopter Company, and travel firms, piloted a 40-minute helicopter tour over the city. Five flights were conducted, serving a total of 80 passengers. However, the service was then suspended due to licensing issues.
